Training Delays "UGHHHH!!!"

Well it seems that the more I write to make myself accountable the more things seem to go south. Maybe I need to just keep my running plans to myself. Last night it was so cold that I immediately turned around and went home. Since I don't have a treadmill at home, training in the cold right now is crazy. So I didn't get the hills workout. I was going to try to use a friends treadmill last night but it was kind of late when I got home and disturbing someone at 7:00 p.m. just to get my training in last night didn't seem fair plus I do have the duty of cooking supper and that would have put us pretty late getting supper.

Today warmed up a little in the afternoon but I was at work and couldn't get a training run in today.

Tomorrow is looking up however because the Payne Center was able to get the heating issue worked out and will open at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow.

So all is not lost this week. I will try to do some stretching and other strength training while I'm at home watching Biggest Loser. And get started on my training runs tomorrow.

New Year New Goals

As I sit here freezing to death in my office, I think about my goals for this year that include 26.2 "blissful" miles on May 2, 2010 in Cincinnati, OH.

I started the year off right by running the Steamwhile 12k (7.5 miles according to the converter I used this morning) on 1/1/2010. My time was 1:20:53 while last years time was 1:27:57 pretty good improvement from one year to the next. The race was pretty cold and damp but by the time you start moving your legs you get pretty warmed up.

My training runs were good over the Christmas holiday and I managed to find a few friends to run with during my days off.

Training was to start in the gym on the treadmill today since it is so cold outside but it looks like because of technical difficulties at the Payne Center I'm running hills in the dark tonight. I will make my husband come find me every once in a while with the four wheeler to be sure that I stay safe. Thank God we don't have much traffic on our road.

Yucky Rainy Weather Today

Well I've been struggling to figure out how I would get my workout in today. My plan was to go to Thames Track to run with the group. But I'm packed for cold weather not wet and cold. So I've decided to give it up today and do some yoga when I get home.

I'm going to look at the weather before I go home and try again tomorrow.

Hobble Then Gobble Results

I had a good 5 mile run on Thanksgiving morning. There were a lot of people at the race and even though I was in a hurry and didn't get to stay for the post race stuff I met a lot of friends and got to talk before the race.

According to the clock when I cross my time for the 5 miles was 56 minutes. The 2008 Hobble then Gobble Time was 1:01:12 so I cut a few minutes off my time this year. I haven't seen the race report to get the official results and hopefully I can get those out later.

Later in the day I took a walk with my cousin for about 4 miles. Friday I rested and Saturday I run/walked about 6 miles.

I'm still gearing up for all the future runs that I have time for and hopefully 2010 will be a successful year for me.

Update:

Workout consisted of 10 minutes on the elliptical machine and 30 minutes on the treadmill. I'm trying to increase my speed so I've decided that on Monday will be my treadmill day. I started out at 6 mph for 5 minutes and hope to increase that by 1 to 2 minutes every week until I can do the 6 mph for 30 minutes.

Total miles for today 3.5

Tomorrow is speed workout at Thames.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that all who read this have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

I will be doing a slow and steady 5 miles in the morning at the Hobble then Gobble race that is a Pine Belt Pacers event at Lake Serene in Hattiesburg. I don't look to PR but just want to use it as a motivational tool to get be back in the "saddle" so to speak and begin to get ready for my marathon dreams and plans. Hmm Marathon dreams, I would have never thought that 20 years ago that I would be dreaming of a Marathon much less making plans for one.

Marathon Plans in Progress

I was looking around the internet yesterday while I was on my break and found the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon that will be held on May 2, 2010. So off I go in search of all the information I need to make my first Marathon as successful as humanly possible.

Any tips and advice would be very helpful at this point. Also, if anyone would like to join me in this adventure that would be great and I would be happy to have you.

My husband said yesterday that he would be happy to drive. How any one human being can love to drive like he does is beyond me. But I'm glad that he likes it because it just stresses me out. I prefer to navigate (I really love maps) and watch the scenery out the window.

Update:

Today I decided to take a slow run on the Wilgus Trail on USM Campus.

Run/Walk: 3.5 miles

O.k. So I'm still having Motivation Problems

It must be the time of year for me. Saturday it rained so I decided to clean my house to get ready for company for Thanksgiving. Sunday I ate all day and was not in the mood for running after eating like I hadn't eaten in 10 years.

This morning up and out at 5:00 a.m. Thank God! But after a mile and eating the junk I ate yesterday just did a number on my energy so I walked a good part of it. Plus it was so dark out that I couldn't see anything and found a few pot holes. Don't need to twist the ankle and get hurt in the process of trying to get more motivated.

So onto the lunch workout today just to try to get more motivated.

Update:
Well I just finished my lunch workout. Feeling pretty good about it so I would say that I'm getting a good start to my motivation. I warmed up on the elliptical machine for 10 minutes and run for 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Total miles for today:
1 mile run
1 mile walk
1 mile elliptical
1.75 miles run treadmill

4.75 total miles
